Orthopaedic surgery to get pets moving again

Bone and joint problems can stop an active pet in its tracks. We assess, image and treat fractures, ligament injuries and joint conditions in-house, with a rehabilitation plan to restore comfortable movement.

When it may be needed

  • Sudden lameness or a leg your dog will not put weight on
  • Cruciate ligament injury, a common cause of hind-limb lameness in dogs
  • Fractures after a fall or accident
  • Kneecap (patella) problems in small breeds
  • Developmental joint conditions in young, growing dogs

What it covers

Orthopaedic care starts with a careful lameness examination and X-rays. Depending on the problem, treatment may include surgical stabilisation of the cruciate ligament, including TPLO, fracture repair, patella surgery or a structured non-surgical plan.

What to expect

We explain the diagnosis, the options and the expected recovery honestly, including the costs, so you can decide with confidence. After surgery your pet stays with us until pain is well controlled, then goes home with a detailed rest and rehabilitation programme and planned check-ups and repeat X-rays.

Our approach

Successful orthopaedic outcomes depend as much on recovery as on surgery. We stay closely involved through every stage, adjust pain relief and exercise as healing progresses, and coordinate physiotherapy when it will help.

Frequently asked questions

What is TPLO surgery?

TPLO changes the angle of the top of the shin bone so the knee stays stable without the damaged cruciate ligament. It is a widely used option for active and larger dogs.

Does every limp need surgery?

No. Many limps settle with rest and medication. We use examination and imaging to recommend surgery only when it offers the best outcome.

How long is recovery after orthopaedic surgery?

Bone and ligament healing takes time, usually 8 to 12 weeks of controlled activity. We guide you week by week.
