About Pet Well
What makes Pet Well different from other vet clinics in Abu Dhabi?
We built the clinic around what pet owners told us they wanted: unhurried consultations, a Fear Free certified team, honest written plans and a full range of care, from vaccinations to orthopaedic surgery, under one roof.
What is the Pet Well Care Model?
It is our framework of five disciplines: foundations of care, clinical and surgical care, diagnostics, specialist care and lifestyle and behaviour. It means your pet is looked after to one standard at every life stage.
What is a happy visit?
A short, no-procedure visit where your pet meets the team, enjoys treats and gets used to the clinic. It helps anxious pets feel calmer at future appointments.
Booking & Appointments
How do I book an appointment?
Book online, call us on +971 50 104 8443 or +971 2 633 9491, or send a WhatsApp message. We will confirm your time with you.
Can I book online?
Yes. Our online booking takes a couple of minutes: choose the service, tell us about your pet and pick a preferred day and time.
Do you offer urgent appointments?
We keep space for unwell pets every day during opening hours. Please call ahead so we can prepare. If your pet has collapsed, is struggling to breathe or has been hit by a car, call us immediately.
Fear Free
What is Fear Free certification and why does every team member have it?
Fear Free is a professional certification in reducing fear, anxiety and stress in pets during veterinary care. Every member of our team holds it because calm pets get safer, more accurate care.
Pet Ownership in Abu Dhabi
Does my pet need to be microchipped?
Microchipping is strongly recommended and is generally required for pet registration and travel in the UAE. We microchip pets in the clinic and can scan an existing chip to check it.
Does my pet need to be registered?
Pet owners in Abu Dhabi are expected to register their dogs and keep vaccinations, particularly rabies, up to date. Our team can advise you on the current process and the documents you need.
Can my dog be off-lead in public?
Dogs should be kept on a lead in public places in Abu Dhabi unless an area is specifically designated for off-lead use. Check local signage, and ask us about safe places to exercise your dog.
My pet was microchipped abroad. Do I need a new chip?
Usually not. Most international microchips can be read in the UAE. We will scan the chip and check that it works and that the number matches your records.
Vaccinations & Wellness
Do you see dogs and cats?
Yes. Dogs and cats are at the heart of what we do, at every life stage.
How often does my dog or cat need vaccinating?
After the first-year course, core vaccines are given every one to three years depending on the vaccine, and some lifestyle vaccines yearly. We will build a schedule for your pet.
What vaccinations does a new puppy need?
Puppies need a course against distemper, parvovirus and adenovirus starting at six to eight weeks, plus rabies and, depending on lifestyle, leptospirosis and kennel cough.
What vaccinations does a new kitten need?
Kittens need a course against panleukopenia, herpesvirus and calicivirus from around eight weeks, plus rabies, with feline leukaemia vaccination discussed based on lifestyle.
My pet seems healthy. Do they still need yearly check-ups?
Yes. Pets hide illness well, and many conditions show no signs early on. A yearly check, or six-monthly for seniors, finds problems while they are easier to treat.
Preparing for Your Visit
How do I prepare my pet for a vet visit?
Get your pet used to the carrier or car at home, bring treats they love, and come a little hungry if appropriate so treats work well. Note any changes you have seen at home.
What should I bring to the first appointment?
Previous medical and vaccination records, the names of any medication, food and supplements, and a list of your questions.
Health & Symptoms
What are signs that my pet is in pain?
Common signs include hiding, reluctance to move or jump, changes in posture, licking one area, reduced appetite, irritability and, in cats, squinting or a hunched position.
How do I know if my cat is sick?
Cats hide illness. Watch for changes in appetite, drinking, litter tray habits, grooming, hiding or weight. Any change that lasts more than a day or two is worth a check.
What is TPLO surgery and does my dog need it?
TPLO is a surgery that stabilises the knee after cruciate ligament rupture. Not every dog needs it. We assess each case and discuss all the options.
How do I know if my dog has dental disease?
Bad breath, yellow-brown tartar, red gums, drooling or difficulty eating are common signs. Most dogs show some dental disease by the age of three.
What should I do if my pet is stung or has an allergic reaction?
Facial swelling, hives, vomiting or breathing difficulty need urgent attention. Call us straight away and do not give human medicines unless advised by a vet.
Is it safe to walk my dog in the Abu Dhabi summer heat?
Walk early in the morning or late in the evening, test the pavement with the back of your hand, carry water and watch for heavy panting or weakness. Heatstroke is an emergency.
Can I take my dog to pet-friendly cafes and restaurants?
Yes, if your dog is relaxed in busy places. Bring water and their own treats, avoid sharing human food, and keep visits short at first.
