What to expect
Many images can be taken while your pet is awake with gentle positioning. Some pets need light sedation to stay still and comfortable, which also gives clearer images. For an abdominal ultrasound we may clip a small patch of fur.
Your vet reads the images and talks you through them on screen, then explains the next steps.

Diagnostics are read by the team treating your pet, so there is no waiting for a stranger’s report before decisions are made. When a second opinion helps, we share images with specialist radiologists.
Frequently asked questions
Will my pet need sedation?
Not always. We use sedation only when it makes the procedure safer, calmer and more accurate, and we discuss it with you first.
Should my pet fast before imaging?
For an abdominal ultrasound or if sedation is likely, we usually ask for no food for a few hours beforehand. We will confirm when you book.
Can I see the images?
Yes. We review them with you and can share copies for your records.
